Support

Need help setting up Video Header or getting it to look right in your Shopify theme? Send a message and we’ll help you work it out.

Basic setup

1. Open your Shopify theme editor.
2. Add the Video Header section from Apps near your header.
3. Drag the section above your header if you want it at the top of your store.
4. Select your video, overlay, text, button, desktop and mobile settings.
5. Save your theme when it looks right.

Recommended video setup

• For the cleanest result, use a Shopify-hosted video.
• Vimeo is the best external video option if you do not want to upload the file to Shopify.
• YouTube is supported, but it may show its own player interface or overlays.
• Use a wide landscape video for desktop headers.
• If possible, upload a separate mobile-friendly video for mobile layouts.

Supported themes

Video Header has been tested with Dawn, Taste, Studio, Savor, and Horizon.

More Shopify 2.0 theme support is being added. If your theme behaves differently, contact support and we’ll help check it.

Troubleshooting

The video is not showing

• Check that the Video Header section is enabled in the theme editor.
• Make sure a video has been selected or a valid Vimeo/YouTube link has been added.
• Save your theme after changing the settings.

The section is not above the header

• In the theme editor, drag the Video Header section above your header section if your theme allows it.
• Some themes structure header sections differently. If it does not move as expected, contact support.

The video looks cropped

• Use the video fit setting to choose between cover and contain.
• Cover fills the section but may crop the edges of the video.
• Contain shows the full video but may leave empty space around it.

YouTube shows controls or overlays

YouTube may show its own player interface or overlays. This is controlled by YouTube and cannot always be fully hidden. For the cleanest background video, use a Shopify-hosted video or Vimeo.
